Facebook Introduces New Tribute Section for Memorial Profiles

Facebook is rolling out a new feature for memorial accounts. This is the Tributes section that is separate from the main profile tape. Here friends of the deceased will be able to leave messages and share memories, celebrate a birthday, publish stories.

Some Facebook users who have designated a so-called “legacy contact” to manage their accounts after death have been alerted to the new feature by a special notification.

The contact person will have more rights in this section than in the rest of the account. For example, he will be able to decide who can post messages here, as well as delete posts.

Trusted persons will still not be able to sign in to your account, read private messages, delete or add friends.
