Facebook is testing Threads messenger for Instagram users

Threads is a new messenger for Instagram users to share content with their best friends list. For example, it will be possible to share geolocation and movement speed with friends.

The Threads application is under development and testing, writes The Verge, citing sources within the company.

What are Threads and how will it work

With Threads, users can automatically share with selected users their location, movement speed, battery level on the device, as well as text, photos and videos processed by editing tools on Instagram.

As planned by the developers, Threads should compete with Snapchat, which has similar features. According to The Daily Beast data from 2018, on average, users spend more time on it than on Instagram.

There is no information about when Threads will start.
