Facebook has announced group chats between Messenger and Instagram Direct so that users can participate in group discussions from the two apps at once.

Group chats will be able to start between Instagram and Messenger contacts.

Recall that Facebook merged the apps back in September 2020, allowing messages to be sent from one app to another. Group chats are another step toward deeper integration.

There will also be polls in Instagram’s private messages, which will also be available in group chats between apps.

Typing indicators will be updated to show when your friends are typing at the same time. Plus, there will be new themes for chat design, as well as a feature for sharing content from your Instagram feed.
