Facebook announced yesterday that it is testing ads in search results. This applies to the platform’s main search results as well as Marketplace search results.
“We are doing a small test for placing ads in Facebook search results. Before deciding if it is worth working on this further, and we will evaluate if these ads are useful for users and companies.“Said Facebook Product Manager Zocheb Hajiyani.

- No blocks. The limits work as if you were doing it all manually.
- Safely. You do not need to enter a password for your account.

Test advertisers can select Search Results as an additional placement option. You cannot select specific keywords or phrases for targeting.
The test is available for static images and carousel. It does not currently support video ads.
Ads placed in search results during the test will only run in the United States and Canada. If the result is good, Facebook could open up ads to more countries.
Why is it important?
Search is one of the few resources not yet used by advertisers. While testing is underway, the functionality is available to retailers and car companies. If the creators of the social network see positive test results, they can add to Facebook ad placements and search results. Thus, we can get another opportunity to reach out to the target audience.
