Social networks have become part of our life – many people share every step in them, do business, send friends links to their favorite materials and share their emotions. Thanks to “live” communication and a simple algorithm for disseminating information, viral content on social networks is very common. For comparison, in order to share information from any site, the user must copy and paste the text or repost with authorization. And in social networks, it is enough to make two clicks with the mouse, and the desired content will already be displayed on your page.

What is viral content
Viral content is an effective online promotion method. Content that is shared by thousands and millions of users around the world is called viral. For example, a post with 1000 shares is considered viral because its reach is much more than 1000 users. Videos on YouTube are considered viral if they have several million views. And even memes that are sold in millions of copies can also be classified as viral content. In other words, this is everything that millions of users see.
For example: stories with Khabarovsk knackers, Diana Shurygina, fires at Lame Horse and Kemerovo shopping center Winter Cherry spread thanks to viral content – stories about them were published on Vkontakte, Instagram and YuoTube. The overwhelming majority of Russians know about them, and those who do not know, most likely, simply do not use the Internet. For example, the video of the Nemagia channel on YouTube about the Zimnyaya Vishnya shopping center, videos with Van Damme on a twine on two trucks and a petition about the Khabarovsk knackers went viral. On the social network Odnoklassniki, statuses with anecdotes, positive emotions, or expressed dissatisfaction with politics periodically become viral. On all social networks, posts are scattered with requests for help, especially if it is expressed in a simple repost, or sentimental stories about old people, children and animals.
With all the positive qualities of viral content, it is quite difficult to predict whether a recording will fly over the network. It happens that a simple user creates a post that gets thousands of views, likes, comments and reposts. And a company that spends a solid budget on internet marketing cannot attract the attention of its target audience. We tried to find working rules for creating viral content, and we will tell you about them further.
A bit about other types of content:
How to create viral content
Choose the right news feed. You need to find a topic that will resonate with the target audience – for example, cover some high-profile event. You can also focus on the benefits, tell an emotional story, or express the thoughts of your subscribers by publishing entertaining content. Ideas for viral content can be found on news sites, competitor groups, or popular bloggers.
Work on the intro. Headings work well in useful content – from them the reader will understand whether he should study the post further. In emotional publications, you can start with a bright, catchy, attention-grabbing introduction. And entertainment posts are usually served “as is” – in the form of a video, picture or picture, video with a small text addition.
Delete unnecessary information. In social networks, and in the global network as a whole, the user’s attention quickly switches from one object to another. According to various studies, readers spend 5 to 10 seconds subconsciously evaluating content. Therefore, it is important for you to immediately provide readers with information that will hook them – a hint of usefulness, an emotional story, or just a beautiful picture. Use Glavred or regular proofreading – remove unnecessary long introductions, clarifications, stop words and everything that is not related to the topic of the publication.
Leave a call to action. Any content can be improved with a smart call to action. It is usually left at the end, addressed directly to the user, for example, in the following format: “Make a repost – tell your friends about it.” Keep in mind that posting a call to action in entertainment content will be somewhat inappropriate. But in a helpful selection, advice, or emotional story, especially asking for help, it will look good.
Create contests. The easiest way to create viral content is to run a repost contest with valuable prizes. Then users will share the recording themselves, the content will be distributed over the network, and you will receive a significant increase in reach. Remember an important rule: the better the prize, the more reach you get.

How to make content go viral
It’s not enough just to post a post. You need to show it to the audience and nudge users to start sharing the publication. This can be done in three different ways.
Method number 1: launch advertising
This will work if there is still a small number of subscribers in the group or account. The more people see your post, the more chances that someone will share it and start a repost chain. You can simply run an ad – then the post will appear in the feed of the audience that you set up. True, it is worth considering the nuances of each social network – for example, on Instagram, when you launch an advertisement for a certain post, its duplicate is created. But on Vkontakte, advertising goes exactly to the published post.

Method number 2: start a discussion yourself
Users are more willing to share information or take part in discussions if they already see several reposts and comments. Repost yourself, ask your friends and subscribers to do it. By the way, this request can also lead to an increase in coverage in the future. You can write a provocative comment from your or someone else’s account, or even create a full-fledged short discussion.
Method number 3: hook emotions
Strong emotions promote themselves. More often than not, users who share the content they see experience surprise, anger, fear, excitement, resentment, and other strong feelings. Therefore, stories with a negative connotation are spread on the network – including about fires, atrocities, violence. If appropriate, you can highlight a case or just express your opinion about it, but do it in such a way that readers not only read and forget, but want to share information. It is important here not to cross the fine line and not create negative repulsive content.
