Now, when uploading a video to IGTV, you can enable “Auto-generated credits” in the settings. The accuracy of the generated text will depend on the clarity of the sound.
The innovation will make content on IGTV available to a wider audience, as well as expand the viewing options with mute. For example, a Facebook study found that ads designed to be viewed without sound were 48% more relevant to viewers and resulted in a 42% increase in purchase intent.
Previously, automatic subtitles were only available for Facebook video uploads, and recently became available for Facebook Live and Workplace Live. In addition, Instagram tested automatic captioning for Stories.
Auto subtitles on IGTV will be available in 16 languages at launch, others will be added later. It is not specified whether the Russian language will be available.
Instagram also recently launched QR codes to quickly find accounts through a smartphone camera and began showing recommended posts in the main feed.
