Instagram is testing several new ways to navigate the Stories feed in the mobile app. Jane Manchun Wong posted an example of one of the new tests on Twitter. The innovation will allow you to move the feed of stories down to open a preview at the top of the screen, and then jump to each of them.

The new option is needed to make it easier to view stories. But more important is the possible transformation of the news feed and more convenient navigation.
Over the past few years, Facebook has repeatedly noted that stories will sooner or later become more popular than the main Instagram feed. At the same time, despite the growing popularity of stories, the main feed takes up most of the screen on Instagram.
Perhaps Instagram will eventually completely change the app and move the focus from photography to stories, as well as make Stories view the main one.
A new experiment is the first step along this path. So, while it may seem like a minor update now, it could involve significant changes in the future.
Recall that earlier Instagram added new fonts for stories, and also added the ability to save live broadcasts to IGTV.
