Instagram continues to evolve as an e-commerce platform and is launching ads in the “Store” section.
Brands will be able to promote their products on the home page of the “Store” tab labeled “Ads.” Clicking on the ad will take you to a product information page, where you can get more information and view additional images, if available. Or go to the store’s website and make a purchase.
Like regular Instagram posts, advertised items can be saved or forwarded to friends.
The social network tested this option on select advertisers in the U.S. in early August and is now rolling it out worldwide.
Single-image and carousel ad formats are available. Like other Instagram ad products, ads in the Store tab operate on an auction model and are only shown on mobile devices.
