Instagram launches in-app payments testing

In its blog, the social network talked about the launch of the new Checkout on Instagram feature. The launch of the functionality will allow you to buy your favorite products without leaving the application.

Over the past year, Instagram has already launched shopping tags in Stories, added a Shopping section to recommendations, and also made trade tags available for use on the territory of the Russian Federation.

How Instagram payments will work

When the user opens the post with the product, they will see the “Checkout on Instagram” button on the product page. Next, you need to choose a color and size. After that, the user will be redirected to the payment page. You will need to enter your name, email address, billing information, and shipping address to complete your purchase.

As soon as the user makes the first purchase, their data will be saved in the application for convenience the next time they visit the store. In addition, customers will receive shipping and delivery notifications directly on Instagram.

Online payments on Instagram are in closed beta for businesses and are only available in the US. The testing will be attended by brands such as Adidas, Burberry, Dior, H & M, Nike, Zara and others.
