TikTok will further restrict teen accounts. The company announced an update to its community guidelines and default settings for 13-15 year olds. Only friends will be able to view and comment on their videos, their accounts will not appear in the recommendations of others. The function that allows everyone to comment on the video will also disappear. Even if you make your account public.
The age group 13-15 will be able to allow comments for friends, or completely disable them.

All users under 16 will be private by default. Users under the age of 16 will not have the Duet and Stitch features that allow you to record shared video and share other people’s video clips. Also, teenagers will not be able to download videos. For 16- and 17-year-olds, Duet and Stitch are only available for video friends.
TikTok positions itself as a responsible company that cares about a young audience and seeks to protect them from unwanted influences. TikTok has gradually added new juvenile safety settings over the past year. Initially, it was made possible for parents to remotely set restrictions on children’s accounts, and then users under 16 were disabled private messages.
This approach is very different from how TikTok’s predecessors handled children’s accounts. In 2019, TikTok even had to pay $ 5.7 million due to the fact that Musical.ly – as TikTok was called before the rebranding – did not receive parental permission for users under 13.
TikTok now has a special application for young audiences – “TikTok for Younger Users” – which only includes moderated content.
Earlier, TikTok introduced an effect based on LiDAR technology for the iPhone 12, and they plan to increase the maximum length of videos to 3 minutes.
