TikTok has added a new “Background Listening” option for live broadcasts, which allows you to continue listening to the broadcast by closing the app.

The “Background Listening” option in TikTok suggests several uses:

• continue watching in a small window on top of other apps (picture-in-picture);
• listening only to the sound, without video.

This expands the broadcasting options in TikTok, allowing people to tune in when they’re out for a run or in the car on their way home and can’t watch the broadcast.

Also, the new option can be used for audio broadcasts and podcasts.
