The program will last for three months. Discussions with entrepreneurs and celebrities, forums dedicated to building communities, and special trainings from TikTok employees await its participants.
In June, in response to the #BlackLivesMatter protests, TikTok announced a number of social initiatives: $ 3 million donated to NGOs that help blacks, created a new department that monitors the diversity of content, and ran several campaigns of its own – Blackout Tuesday and #ShopBlack campaign.
TikTok has been criticized in the past for the way videos are selected, with some users finding the service’s algorithms racially motivated.
The Black Creatives program should be another step to diversify the videos users receive.
Earlier it became known that the TikTok accounts of users under 16 years old will be private by default, and also added a new effect based on LiDAR technology for the iPhone 12.
