YouTube Music turns its top charts into playlists

YouTube Music has announced that it will make the top charts available as playlists. The update will be released to users in 29 countries where the music service is running. Each market will receive five of these chart playlists – three for each country and two global.

Global and local playlists with top 100 best songs and top 100 best videos will be available. The top 20 songs will be offered as a local playlist, which is updated several times a day.

Top 100 playlists are updated weekly. The best songs are determined by the number of views on the official video, user videos using that track, and lyric versions. The best videos are selected based on the number of views of the official video in the previous week.

New playlists are already available in the YouTube Music app. They will appear on user home screens and appear in search results.
