YouTube will serve ads on all videos, even on non-monetized channels

YouTube has updated the user agreement, according to which, now the service will be able to show ads in videos, even by those authors who have not connected monetization.

At the same time, users will not be able to receive money from monetization, since for this they need to be members of the affiliate program.

The changes took effect on November 18, 2020 and YouTube is starting to gradually add ads to some videos that are not affiliated with YouTube’s affiliate program.

At the moment, the changes only affect users in the United States, when the update affects users in other countries, YouTube will report in 2021.

YouTube notes that content creators can still apply to join the program. To do this, you need to comply with the rules for selecting a site: the channel must have at least a thousand subscribers and more than 4000 hours of viewing over the past 12 months.

Earlier, YouTube revealed details of its recommendation algorithm, and also changed the channel confirmation rules.
